Kiwi

We were putting together the velcro fruits and Shmuli hands me to haves of the kiwi, and says "kickwi".

Phone conversations

Shmuli picks up a phone or iPod Touch or the rotary phone pull-along toy and goes, "Hi....fmweggghchechahum...bye." It's adorable the way he knows to include a greeting, a message body, and a farewell!

Amen!

The past few times Totty said a Bracha out loud, Shmuli did a big mitzvah and answered Amen to all of them, without being prompted! Sometimes even a few seconds after it was over, which was even cuter!

Pics on the fridge

Shmuli can identify who's who on the photo magnets on our fridge. I asked him where Totty is and he scanned all the pictures, finally pointing to one where Totty was kissing his face!

Da da

Shmuli knows when he's doing something "bad". I have told him "da da" in the past after certain misdemeanors, so the other day when he bit me (while nursing) he smacked one hand onto his other hand and told himself, "da da". I guess he can take care of his punishments by himself!

Fun ride!

Yesterday we went to Rockland Kosher and Shmuli eyed the Shaky Shaky (coin-operated ride) with longing (or so I imagined). I decided to splurge and inserted 50 cents into the ride's coin slot. Shmuli was laughing and really enjoyed himself on the ride. He's a very safe driver.

Superman Shmuli at Costco

Shmuli wasn't feeling so well on Sunday but we wanted to take care of some errands so we settled him with his Cozy and life was good. We went to Costco and Shmuli was still clutching his blanket. I didn't want it getting onto the floor so I wrapped it around his shoulders like a cape. Here's what he looked like, prancing down the aisles like a man on a mission.

Puppy love

We went to Kakiat Park on Chol Hamoed and Shmuli spotted a family with a dog. He scooted over and embraced the puppy like a long lost friend! He patted her body and stroked her tail and hugged her. It was so cute to see him so in love with an animal. On Erev Pesach he delighted in spotting a cat in our development.

In the tub!

We were washing Shmuli's Legos, blocks and Squigz in the tub with a lysol+water solution. Shmuli was playing with the puppy dog Lego piece, but then we had to throw it into the tub to get washed with the others. I ran out to get some more toys to throw in and come back to find Shmuli sitting calmly in the bathtub, cradling the puppy! He was wearing shoes, clothing, pants, etc. but that didn't stop him from climbing in to retrieve his precious pup.

Packing Legos in the bag

Shmuli grabbed a shopping bag out of the pantry's lowest shelf and then proceeded to fill it up with Legos that were strewn across the kitchen floor. He can pack!

Shmuli cleans the bathtub

Shmuli was in the bath and grabbed a baby wipe. He then scrunched it up and started scrubbing the walls of the bathtub!

Shmuli gets his first pair of shoes!

Shmuli behaved like a big boy. Or rather like a girl - he was so excited to get shoes! He fully enjoyed being fitted, trying out some different shoe models, admiring himself in the mirror...

Good morning, Siri!

As his morning routine normally proceeds, Shmuli swiped my phone from the night table and called out to Siri. Siri's standard response to him is something like, "I didn't get that, Rachel." But today she answered his gibberish with, "That's interesting, Rachel"! So Shmuli's spouting pearls of wisdom which we mortals can't process, but Siri talks his language.

New slippers

Shmuli is prancing around the house wearing these new fuzzy slippers we got on Friday. Adorable the way he's totally naked aside from the new footwear!

Into the garbage

I was feeding Shmuli some sherbet from a cup and spoon. Not meaning anything seriously, I casually told him, "Ok, go throw it in the garbage." Sure enough, he ambled over and chucked the cup and spoon! I was so excited I started screaming his name so he took out the cup and spoon and brought it back to me. He wanted me to ask him to do it again so he'll have another chance to wow me.

Reading a magazine

Today Shmuli was sitting on my bed when I gave him a thick magazine to play with. He took the magazine on his lap and skimmed through the pages. While doing so, he whispered random non-words. The way he flips the pages, you wouldn't dream that he wasn't actually reading the pages!

Replacing the bottle on the shelf

We were eating the meal on Shabbos when Shmuli ambled over to the closet where we keep various junk like the cameras, some boxes of stuff, and silver polish. He took out the bottle and then replaced it. It started to wobble so he held it there to straighten it and made sure it stayed put. Then he closed the closet door. It was cute to see how he took the time to make sure it was well-stationed.

Ready to roll

As we were about to leave the house for the day, I called out to Shmuli, "Ok, ready to roll? Let's go." Shmuli looked at me and then zoomed away. I tiptoed behind him to see where he was going and was shocked to see that he went over to where his coat was, and tugged it off the chair! He understood that going out meant first putting on his coat!
